Havin fun & workin

Willie Finished the texturing in the "dart"room, the old dining room, and completed the taping in the bathroom. I intalled moulding on top & bottom of the kitchen cabinets.

Next i installed all the door knobs and handles while talking with Alison on the phone! Who says men can't multi-task!!!

A new form of darts! :)

Willie got really creative and used the old doors as a ramp on my truck! It was all fun & games until Willie got hurt...then it was just funny! J/K So he didn't really get hurt, but he did fall pretty hard! You can see from the pictures that as he was coming back down the ramp his wheel fell into the into the door.

Totally Textured!

Today was good! We started off very tired after a fun weekend, but we ended up getting a very long burst of energy and after starting at 9am we finally wound down around 9pm. I spent the first few hours taking care of paper work and a little book keeping, but Willie worked a TRUE half day...12 hours that is! :) What was so exciting about today is that we textured the entire kitchen!! Which means we can now paint it! Things are starting to shape up and hopfully we will be able to ship out (soon). No picutres today, just a quick update. I'm tired and I'm gonna call Ali.

hugs to all,
BJ
ok, so here are a couple of pics for fun.

Good bye to Alison :(

Well This post finds us at the end our visit with wonderful (special ;) friends and family! Alison just left tonight and dad leaves tomorrow. But first lets catch up on some work dad g0t done yesterday while Ali & i picked up a rental car.
Dd did a bang up job on the kitchen, his help was fantastic and definitely made his trip worth while, besides the fact that we got to be with him! :) He had some good ideas for the microwave and portable island fixture that were already here. He mounted the microwave on the wall, added a new plug for it, and installed under-the-counter lights for the sink!!! A very attractive touch...and very practical!
After we picked up the rental car, which was a very fun little car as you can see, we headed to Belle Ille! We were very blessed that there was a break in the clouds, the only break all weekend! It never stopped snowing however, in fact it was felt like blizzard to us! Then we headed out to "Main St.". This turned out to be one of the most fun dining experiences i have ever had! We went to the Mongolian BBQ. I had never been to one so it was very fun. Then we were supposed to go bowling but dad pooped on the party :) We decided instead to watch Casino Royal at home. Today was also a load of fun! We started off by going to the "Maritime Sailors Cathedral" for our Easter Celebration. This was alot of fun cuz of our knowledge of the song by Gordon Lightfoot, "the Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald". This cathedral was the one he mentions in the song that rang the bell 29 times, once for every sailor that ship. And we even got to hear the story from the two sons of the man who rang the bell!
After church we decided it would be fun to eat lunch in Canada! This was not quite as exciting as it sounds, but it's cool to be able to say that you went to another country for lunch! However the trip was not without excitement. When we came back across the bridge and reached the border gate, the officer asked us for our documents. Without hesitation i gave him our drivers licenses. He then laughed and asked us for our passports, when we said we didn't have them because people said we didn't need them yet he responded by saying OK, so let me see your birth certificates! My stomach dropped! I thought we were gonna get stuck in Canada! He was such a nice guy though and after a long conversation and a lot of questioning he let us go through!

This place cracks me up every time i drive by it! For the first 3 weeks i was here i thought it was called the "Booby Strap"! :) Read the motto.

Dad's shelf before he finished it.

Our cool car.

"The Golden Griddle" Lunch in Canada

Coming back

OK, this is just the funniest little place. The Community Health Hut! I like things they have to offer, especially the "bean pie"! This is on the corner of our street and 8 mile!

In front of "the Casa".

So there's a quick wrap on the latest festivities in d-Town! BJ

Now Alison attempts to join d-Team :)

Ok, so Alison is only here for 3 minutes and my dad puts her to work !!! Dad & Ali put together a base cabinet for the kitchen and Alison proceeded with telling my dad the best way to put the cabinet together even though this was her first one!! The funny part was that she was correct and dad was having difficulty reading the instructions :) I guess dad needs a new prescription for his glasses. So it's official though, Alison has a position with Davis Construction should she ever become unemployed...or if she wants to improve her standing with the new construction company she is now working for. Well although My Sunshine arrived, she definitely brought with her some beautiful big snow flakes! It has pretty much snowed since my dad and Ali have been here. Last night and this morning produced some very large flakes, the kind that float and almost seem to fly! Although it would have been nice to have spring weather to show my pops and Smalison around d-Town it is also fun to hole up in the newly improved house and watch a movie and drink hot coffee!
As far as work goes, we created what dad was calling "an instant kitchen"! Just add water he said and kazam! There it was...a new beautiful kitchen!! Well what he was referring to was that after removing one of the windows that was in the way (the old bathroom window) and closing up the wall; installing a pretty new hood-vent and all the upper wall cabinets, it really did look like an "instant kitchen"! It's funny cuz dad wanted to remove that window when he was here last time, but I talked him out of it saying that it would take too much time and now that it's done and the cabinets are in place....i was very foolish to have ever said anything other! The kitchen really does look smashing! :) I hope you can get a small glimpse of what it feels like now.
Love the d-Team,
BJ
Ok so dad actually did this the first day he was here, but we forgot to mention it :) This is the water main coming into the basement and it was so corroded and prone to a leak that we couldn't leave it for fear that it would eventually rupture and flood the basement. This picture shows the old being held up on the right and the newly installed with ball-cock valve on the left.

Alison just arrives! :)
So you can't work without your safety glasses! no matter how silly it makes you look :)
This is the cabinet that dad & Ali built and modified to fit around the beam support. Notice Ali in action putting the newly modified drawer into place!
Dad & Willie standing in front of where the old bathroom window was! Proud of their accomplishment.
Now they are holding up the old window!
Ali & I posing a nice sweeeet sleep! Here dad is blurry cuz he would not stop laughing! We tried to take the picture several times and the lighting was so low that we had to open the shutter for 13 second and it was the funniest thing because dad was like a little kid that could not help himself!

Dad & Alisooon were the first up and you can tell that she was really into his conversation! Maybe cuz she was waiting for all of us to wake up for over 2 hours.
Hopefully you can see the pretty snow outside while we wake up and enjoy coffee and conversation!
